First of all, this is all about fixing the RSS feed on http://salesbloggers.com. If you have not checked out the site, 9 of us in online sales training, yes welcome Will from topsalesblog.com, are spewing brilliance from different places in the sales world. Go sign up for the feed and enjoy. Oh and the free ebook is about to come out…as soon as this darn flu passes.
Now back to the point. We have had this problem for weeks, and no offense to the SBU but they are all sales consultants and masters of sales training. This is not an insult, as I am one as well. The difference, I thrive on startups. In doing so, I am also a marketing guy, and admin assistant, a writer, a sales person, a sales manager, the CRM guy, IT, and whatever else is going to help my client get to profitability. After all my tag line is:
“I help new companies in emerging sectors make money.”
That statement is void of all sales rhetoric, thanks to the brilliance of Jill Konrath. Sometimes I roll up the sleeves and get my hands dirty. Actually most times.
So, when weeks of no RSS passed and noone had it figured out, what did I do?
I went to feedburner and ran a test.
The test told me to look at all of our php files for whitespace (about 30).
Turned off all of our plugins one by one to find the issue.
Then finally, went in to each and every file, yes all 30, and removed all of the double spacing (some moron of a coder missed that this would cause feed issues).
Reset everything.
Now we have a working RSS, and if anyone ever asks you the difference between the salesman and the sales evangelist… send them the permalink.
This video is the second thing on the list when you Googlesalesevangelist. Since it is the name of my upcoming book, I want to have the top 50 slots lead back to my blog and sites. For the last three weeks, I have ignored it, but today for some reason gave it a click.
It is not only a what not to do video for all retail sales people, but absolutely hilarious!
Sales people tend to take the next two weks off. It mokes no sense, but they decide that everyone is going to be out of the office or too busy to want to work with them. This is just folly and costs many startups deals that could be booked sooner than later.
In my last post on buying evangelists, I pushed the webosphere to go out and spend. My wife and I did our part and spent almost all of what we had budgeted for presents yesterday. Yes lines were long, yes people were frantic, but it was fun and we accomplished our mission. Not only that, but the holiday shopping is complete and now we can relax. (more…)
What is the strategy of a sales person? Should it not be created by those in charge? Surely they have the experience to guide us in our objectives. We do not have time to consider these things we must freely reduce our activities to those that are most effective.
Initially you strategy must focus on who you are going to contact. To find success and repeat it, you must hone to a zone. Spread your wings wide and reach out with diversity in mind. This is a strategy to uncover who you offering appeals to and how you should communicate with them.
